I want to make this afternoon memorable, so I exclusively invited people I like, respect, admire, love, and feel connected to.
I have realized that 75% or more of the people who make me happy were born female. By the way, there are -and have always been- many incredible men in my life that I respect and love deeply, starting with John, the biggest love of my life. But being honest, pretty much every born male I know has been a dick to me (at least once), in one way or another.
Don’t get me wrong, I can be a total B*** (with capital letters)… but even at my worst “bitching disposition,” I aim not to be a dick. I am sure I have accidentally hurt more than one person in the past. But I can honestly say that -in my adult life- it was not on purpose or only because I thought it would be fun to hurt and be a dick to that person. That type of action doesn’t bring joy to my life.
And for the record, yes, a few women have been dicks to me, too… they are not invited to this gathering. 😜
In short, “no dicks allowed” because I didn’t want to call it “a girls’ gathering” for the simple reason that not everyone invited identifies as a female. I didn’t want to exclude them. Their presence today is essential to me.
My apologies if I offend anyone with “the name” of my party. I know that John disliked it very much as soon as it came out of my mouth. The few of you that I talked about this gathering and mentioned the “theme name” got a big laugh, so I decided to stick to my original idea.
I am not letting my perfectionism take over. Otherwise, I will keep procrastinating this gathering until all details are “perfect,” including a name. As we all know, perfection doesn’t exist, so as a famous slogan says, “Just do it.” Here I am, just doing it.
I would love it if you could join me for a few hours on Saturday, May 18, 2024 (1 – 4 pm). I will email you more details soon.
Thank you for not being a dick… to me!
Un abrazo,
Jess

Subject: Save the date!
Hello, hello!
It has been three or four years since I started pondering about having a small get-together with as many friends as possible from my favorite people in the world (mental list).
This year, I decided I was no longer letting my perfectionism get in the way.
You received this “save the date” message on purpose. It means I like you, I respect you, I admire you, and I am grateful to have you in my life! Because of those reasons (and many more), I would like to invite you to join me for a nice afternoon and meet other wonderful people within my tribe who, like you, bring immense joy to my life.
Please be discreet about this event. As I mentioned, this is a small party, and I am limiting the guest list exclusively to people who (as Marie Kondo would say) spark joy in my life. You are one of those special people.
If you do not have plans, I would love to see you on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
More details will follow soon. Until then… thank you for making me smile and having a positive impact on my life! I am looking forward to seeing you.
Have a nice day!
Jess

What’s the plan?
Hello, hello!
I hope this message finds you well.
I’ve reserved the Owen Bircher Park in Wilson, WY for this gathering. I invited 50 people, but I understand life happens, and not everybody can make it.
If you can attend, you are NOT required to bring a snack. But it will be highly appreciated if you would like to bring something (food or beverage).
I would love it if you COOKED it instead of buying it. Feel free to unleash your culinary creativity! Whether it’s a salad, a soup, an appetizer, a dessert, a bread, or an entrée, I’m excited to see what you’ll bring! I am happy to provide the necessary items for your dish to be eaten, like plates, plastic forks, spoons, sour cream, cheese, etc.
In an ideal world, you would email or text me your recipe before our gathering. If you take a picture and send it along, that would be amazing. My goal is to take a picture of everything everyone brings so we all can have them after the party.
Thank you for filling out this form to let me know if you are attending. I would love your reply before or by Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 12th, 2024), please. I hope you can make it!
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
I hope to see you soon! Remember, Saturday, May 18th, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
I am looking forward to seeing you!
XOXO,
Jess
Note: Sadly, dogs are not allowed in any of the parks managed by Teton County Parks & Rec. Thank you for your understanding, and for not bringing your pooches!

Friendly reminder for Saturday, 5/18: Party time!
Hello hello,
I eagerly anticipate our gathering! The weather forecast says 60ºF and no chance of rain. Fifty people were invited, twenty-six replied yes, and eight did not reply, so I am guessing about twenty-seven to low thirty-something people, including me.
Thanks to the different items some of you are bringing, we will have a little bit of everything. Yay!
I cannot wait to see each of you very soon!
